Skills and Competencies
Strong macro-level understanding of credit methodologies
Solid grasp of technical and operational aspects related to assigned deliverables
Independently engage with lead and support analysts to resolve or clarify straightforward issues
Demonstrated ability to develop working knowledge across multiple projects or deliverables with guidance
Relevant experience of 0–2 years in credit/financial data analysis and interpretation
Exposure to fundamental finance or accounting is an added advantage
Proficient in analysing financial statements
Highly organized, dependable, and capable of managing multiple priorities
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, demanding environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication abilities
Effective interpersonal skills
Additional language skills may be required for specific roles
Education
Masters in Finance, Economics,Engineering or Business/Accounting
Responsibilities
Senior Financial Data Analyst performs a range of data, analytical and research services that contribute to the overall credit analysis function performed by the fundamental rating groups. Prospective candidates will have a good understanding of fundamental finance and financial statements as well as a basic understanding of capital markets. The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong organizational skills, demonstrate attention to detail as well as their ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Being part of the ADO (Analytic Data Operations) function provides a unique opportunity to foster skills that are valuable to any future career in the financial services industry. This will be an internally facing role, reporting into the team manager.
Examples of work include:
Apply MR' standards to existing data in order to produce valuable inputs into the rating and research process, including Moody's adjusted data, key indicators, ratios, charts and graphs in line with MR’s methodologies
Perform data intake exercises such as resolution of data point or mapping issues
Perform various data intake tasks, including scrubbing, validating the data for further use in research and ratings
Responsible for reviewing and understanding financial reports, official statements and other documents related to issuers’ performance
Liaise with analysts and accounting specialists in order to understand the application of accounting concepts on a particular entity
Work directly with ratings and support analysts to understand data capture requirements, adjustments and other information needed by the rating team for ratings and research
Work independently on straightforward business as usual (BAU) deliverables such as prep for portfolio reviews, credit opinions or outreach presentations
Take initiative to participate in projects or process improvements
Provide guidance to resolve queries of more junior team members
About the team
Our Analytic Data Operations (ADO) team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of data used in Moody’s ratings and research.
We contribute to Moody’s by:
- Enhancing data quality and consistency across global teams
- Supporting analytic workflows with standardized processes
- Driving innovation in data governance and knowledge management
