Chemours is seeking a Network Engineer I to join our growing Enterprise Infrastructure team. This position will be available at the Wilmington Office Building at 1007 N Market St, Wilmington, DE19801 or remote location and report directly to the Manager of Infrastructure Engineering.
We are looking for a Network Engineer I to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. This entry-level position will support the day-to-day operations and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure, with a focus on Cisco-based routing and switching across both on-premises data centers and cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure. The role will provide exposure to IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS platforms, helping ensure reliable and secure network connectivity in hybrid environments. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of networking concepts and a desire to learn within a modern IT environment that embraces automation and DevOps practices. Candidates pursuing or holding certifications such as CCNA, ITIL, or Azure Fundamentals are strongly encouraged to apply.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with the implementation of a companywide LAN hardware refresh
- Assist with the monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure, with a focus on Cisco routers and switches, and wireless connectivity.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of network connectivity for on-premises data centers, and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Collaborate with senior network and infrastructure engineers to learn and ensure reliable and secure networking services.
- Document network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in routine network maintenance activities, including patching, backups, and updates.
- Assist with the provisioning of network devices and basic layer 2 and layer 3 configurations.
- Support efforts to improve network performance, reliability, and security under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Provide first-level support for network incidents and escalate issues as needed.
The following is required for this role:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field - or equivalent technical training and experience.
- 0-2 years of experience in a networking or IT support role (internships or labs/projects may count).
- Basic understanding of Cisco routing and switching, including VLANs, STP, and subnetting.
- Familiarity with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and OSPF/EIGRP.
- Interest in learning about cloud networking (especially Azure) and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow documented procedures and contribute to process improvement.
The following is preferred for this role:
- Exposure to Cisco certifications such as CCNA (in progress or completed).
- Familiarity with basic Azure networking concepts (e.g., VNets, NSGs, ExpressRoute).
- Experience with ticketing systems and basic ITIL concepts.
- Interest in automation tools and scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
